Glitzy Cannes is famed for its celebrity-riddled film festival and its ode to living the high, luxurious lifestyle, but it also has another side to it. Tucked away between the Esterel Massif, the azure waters of the Mediterranean Sea and the rolling shores, it hides a serene aura that harks back to simpler days. I got to experience this side of the region at the Chateau de la Tour, a beautiful 19th Century castle set in the upmarket neighbourhood of La Bocca.

It is a fairly well-served international airport, receiving flights from most capitals and many other large cities across Europe. It serves as a base for EasyJet, which operate a number of routes to and from this airport.
