Palacina Berlin

Glamorous city apartments in one of Berlin’s trendiest districts

By Esme Fox, VeryChic correspondent
Germany’s capital and largest city, Berlin certainly has a reputation which precedes it. With its many historical associations, lively nightlife, vibrant café culture and art scene, it just begs to be explored. It may have been broken and badly damaged during the Cold War, but out of the ashes has emerged a hip and stylish city, both tolerant and multicultural. Today it is seen as one of Europe’s trendiest cities with plenty to entertain, whatever your interests. One of the best ways of experiencing this most fascinating of cities is to rent out a city apartment, giving you the freedom to explore as you wish and perhaps to see it from a more local perspective. A smart and chic option is The Palacina Residence, located in the south of the city.

Here you’ll find traditional dishes such as schnitzels, potato salad, smoked lamb’s tongue or venison with quince jelly served up in an elegant wood-paneled dining room. Muskauer Straße 1.
  • Berlin is all about international food, so why not do as the locals do and try something different? Located just opposite the Winterfeldtplatz Market you’ll find Ixthys, a no-fuss traditional Korean restaurant serving up spicy broths, fiery kimchi (cabbage with garlic and chilli) and crispy rice dishes. Pallasstrasse 21.
  • Discreet and underground, knock-to-enter Schwarze Traube is said to have some best cocktails in the city and even won ‘Germany’s Best Mixologist’ prize in 2013. Sip your delicious concoctions in dimly lit rooms decorated with modish black and gold wallpaper and antique glassware. Wrangelstrasse 24.
