Amsterdam
Netherlands
The luxurious De L'Europe Amsterdam ***** occupies a historic building right on the banks of the Amstel, in the heart of the Dutch capital, Amsterdam.
Amsterdam Airport Schiphol is the main international airport of the Netherlands, located 9 kilometres (5.6 mi) southwest of Amsterdam, and is one of the busiest in Europe. It is particularly well served, receiving flights from many capitals and major cities in the UK and across Europe and it serves as the main hub for KLM.
Getting from Schiphol Airport to the hotel:
- By taxi: Taxis are always available in front of the airport and will take you directly to the hotel. It is certainly the easiest solution, although a little more expensive, costing between 45-55€ dependent on traffic.
Look out for the new TAXI-E, fully electric, climate neutral cars – all of the comfort and none of the guilt! They offer free Wi-Fi, and are slightly cheaper too, costing from 33€.
- By Airport Shuttle: Run by the company Connexxion they leave every 10 minutes between 6am and 9pm and drop you off at the Hotel. Tickets cost around 17€ one way and 27€ return, and can be purchased on-line or inside the main arrival hall; the bus leaves from platform A7, situated just outside the arrivals hall. You can purchase tickets inside arrivals hall 2, or book in advance online.
- By train: This is both convenient and the most economical way to get directly to Amsterdam Central Station. There are no seat reservations on Dutch domestic trains and whilst you can buy your tickets in advance of travel there is no cost saving through doing this. Standard price is 4€ one way, 8€ return.
From the UK, the Eurostar operates trains from London to Amsterdam (in conjunction with Thalys). The journey time is around 4 hours and 45 minutes, with a change over in Brussels. Otherwise from mainland Europe, trains are available from many other countries and can be found and booked online with RailEurope.
Getting from Amsterdam Central Station to the hotel:
From the station, it is a 5-minute tram journey on lines 4 (towards Station RAI), 9 (towards Diemen), 16 or 24 (both towards VU medisch centrum). Stop is Amsterdam, Muntplein. Then, simply cross at the closest bridge to the Hotel De L'Europe Amsterdam *****.
However, we recommend renting bikes to get around!
We recommend that you book activities online in advance in order to make the most of your time in Amsterdam.
