The closest airport to Budapest is the Ferenc Liszt International Airport (unofficially: Budapest Ferihegy International Airport), located 16 km south-east of downtown Budapest.
From the UK: British Airways , EasyJet, Ryanair and Wizz Air all operate direct flights out of London. Ryanair also fly out of Manchester and Bristol and Jet2 fly out of Manchester and Edinburgh.
From Ireland: Aer Lingus and Ryanair operate direct flights from Dublin.
From Germany: Carriers flying direct out of Berlin include: Air Berlin and EasyJet. Lufthansa fly direct out of Frankfurt and Munich and Germanwings fly out of Dusseldorf, Hamburg and Cologne.
From the Netherlands: KLM provide direct flights from Amsterdam while Transavia fly direct out of Rotterdam and Wizz Air from Eindhoven.
From Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland: Norwegian fly direct from all four respective capitals: Stockholm, Copenhagen, Oslo and Helsinki.
From France: Air France, Transavia, EasyJet and Ryanair all fly direct from Paris.
- Hotel transfer / Shuttle transfer: The hotel provides a transfer shuttle service to and from Budapest Airport on request and for a surcharge.
Otherwise the AirportShuttle-Minibus provides a shared-ride service, taking passengers travelling to and from the same, or similar addresses, are escorted in the same vehicle. Booking desks are found in all terminals (although it's recommended to book in advance online or by phone (+36-1) 296-8555.)
- By taxi: Perhaps the quickest, most direct way to the hotel, taking around 30 minutes. Taxis queue at the arrival level of Terminal 2. Fotaxi operate a reliable taxi service at relatively low prices and with a simple booking system, just look for Fotaxi booths outside the terminal building. You'll receive a booking voucher with information on the destination, fare and vehicle; then take the first available car (check for the Fotaxi logo) showing your voucher to the driver. The cost to the city centre is around 5 900-6 500 forint (around 20-22 euros).
- By bus/train/metro: Buses 200E during the day, and 900 at night, run from Terminal 2 to Ferihegy train station. Take a train to Nyugati pályaudvar (Western Railway Station) in the city centre (about 23 minutes). Then take metro line M3 (blue) down to Arany János. (From there is it a few minutes’ walk. - By bus/metro: Take bus 200E and get off at Kobánya-Kispest station, from there it is possible to take metro line M3, eleven stops up to Arany János. (From there is it a few minutes’ walk. See below for directions to the hotel.)
All highways and main roads in Hungary lead to Budapest. Use of certain roads requires the purchase of a vignette that should be kept safe and displayed to authorities on demand; some of these roads include: M1, M3, M5 and M7.
Also note that there is zero alcohol tolerance for drivers.
Arany János metro station served by line M3 (blue) is a few minutes’ walk from the hotel. Exiting the station cross the road opposite the square and walk down Zichy Jenő, take a left down Hajós.
