The K + K Palais Hotel **** in Vienna, is an incredibly central hotel. Situated in a calm area of the city’s 1st district, it is not far from St. Stephen’s Cathedral and other main sights.
Vienna is served by Vienna International Airport (Flughafen Wien-Schwechat), located in Schwechat, 18 km (11 mi) south-east of central Vienna.
- From the UK: British Airways and EasyJet operate direct flights out of London. Low-cost EasyJet fly direct out of Manchester. British Airways and Germanwings also fly indirect from other cities.
- From Ireland: Aer Lingus operates direct flights from Dublin.
- From Germany: Lufthansa and Air Berlin fly direct out of Berlin, Hamburg, Dusseldorf, Cologne, Frankfurt and Munich. Low-cost FlyNikki also fly direct from Frankfurt and Munich.
- From the Netherlands: KLM provide direct flights from Amsterdam.
- From Sweden, Denmark and Norway: Austrian and FlyNikki fly direct from Stockholm in Sweden and Copenhagen in Denmark. Norwegian and Austrian fly direct from Oslo in Norway.
- From Finland: Finnair fly direct from Helsinki, Finland.
- From France: Air France and FlyNikki fly direct from Paris. Air France also fly from Lyon and FlyNikki also fly from Nice. Indirectly, Vueling fly from Marseille and Bordeaux and Germanwings fly from Nice and Toulouse.
- By taxi: Taxis are readily available at the airport and cost around 40-45€ (£30-34) to the city centre. Pre-bookable transfers also exist and cost a little less, at around 35€ (£27).
- By train: While being the cheapest method, it is also fast. The airport is connected to Vienna city centre via the S-Bahn (suburban rail service) or CAT Airport Express. CAT express trains take 16 minutes to get to Wien Mitte station in the city and cost 12€ (about £10) one way or 19€ (about £15) return. S-Bahn trains run roughly every 30 minutes to Wien Mitte, and take around 25 minutes. Tickets cost only 4.20€ (about £3.50).
From Wien Mitte station you can take the U-bahn (metro) line U4 (green) for two stops to Schottenring (the metro cost is included in the S-Bahn airport ticket).
Vienna is accessible by train from many locations across Europe, you may find and book tickets online from Rail Europe. Most internationally arriving trains stop at Wien Westbahnhof. To get to the hotel from there, take the U-bahn line U3 for three stops to Volkstheater and change for line U2 to Schottenring.
The Schottenring U-bahn station, a 6 minute walk away, is the closest metro to the hotel. It is served by lines U2 (violet) and U4 (green). To reach the hotel, walk down Franz-Josefs-Kai (with the river on your left). Take a right turn onto Heinrichsgasse and then the second left onto Rudolfsplatz. The hotel will be on the right.
From Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and on Saturdays, Sundays and French bank holidays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
