Little boxes, on the hillside, little boxes made of ticky tacky … sometimes I ruefully think of the old song when I come home to my city apartment. It’s very nice really but sometimes I just long for the feeling of space and grace that you get from a château in Provence, preferably surrounded by peaceful stretches of parkland and cool greenery under the soft Provençal sun. We found the perfect escape from the sameness of the city: the Château de Roussan in Provence.

The Chateau de Roussan **** is just a kilometre or so from Saint-Rémy de Provence, facing the Alpilles mountain range. There are some incredible hiking paths in the area along with the famous Van Gogh trail, where you can discover all the spots that artist painted during his stay here.

BY PLANE

  • Marseille-Provence Airport (MRS) is located about 27 km / 17 mi northwest of Marseille, and around 72 km / 45 mi (1 hour) drive from the hotel.

    It is fairly well-served with both seasonal and regular year-round flights from a number of major cities across Europe, including the UK, along with elsewhere in France.

FROM THE AIRPORT TO THE HOTEL

  • - By car: renting a car is the most convenient way of getting to the hotel from the airport. Follow the blue signs for the A7 motorway and Salon de Provence. Continue on the A7 until exit 25-Cavaillon towards Davaillon. On exiting the motorway take the D99 towards St Remy de Provence. Once in St Remy continue on the Route du Rougadou for a kilometre.
