The best option to arrive by plane is flying to Madrid Airport which is 258km/160 miles away:
- From the UK: Direct flights from London are operated by British Airways, Iberia and low-cost airlines EasyJet and Ryanair. Easyjet also offer direct flights from Bristol while low-cost airline Flybe run direct flights from other major cities such as Glasgow, Edinburgh, and Belfast.
- From Ireland: Flying from Dublin, you can find direct flights provided by Aer Lingus, Iberia and low-cost Ryanair and Iberia Express.
- From Germany: Airlines Iberia and Air Berlin provide direct flights from major cities Berlin, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt and Munich. Easyjet also operate direct flights from Berlin while Germanwings offer direct flights from Dusseldorf and Hamburg.
- From the Netherlands: Departing from Amsterdam, KLM and Iberia provide direct flights to Madrid, while Transavia provide direct flights from both Rotterdam and Eindhoven.
- From Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland: SAS, Norwegian and Iberia fly direct from Stockholm, Sweden and Copenhagen, Denmark. Norwegian and Ryanair fly direct from Oslo, Norway. Meanwhile Finnair, Norwegian and Iberia fly from Helsinki, Finland.

- By car: The journey takes about 2 and a half hours, and car rental services are available at the airport.
Get on M-11 towards Madrid, and follow signs to merge on the M-40 toward R-2/A-1/M-607/A-6. Take the Exit to the A-6 towards Coruña, and as you follow the A-6, continue onto AP-6 following signs for Ávila/Coruña. After about 30 minutes, take exit 81 for AP-51 toward Ávila, and stay on AP-51 for another half hour. Take exit 111 for the A-50 towards Salamanca. Stay on that road for 90km/55 miles, and take exit 99 towards SA-20/E-80/Portugal/A-62/Valladolid/E-803/Cáceres/A-66/Zamora/CL-510/Alba de Tormes. At this point, follow signs then merge onto for the A-66/E-80 towards Zamora. Take exit 239 for A-66 toward Zamora, then exit 322 for N-630 towards Topas/SA-601/La Vellés. At the roundabout the exit onto N-630, and turn right as you see small signs leading your way to the Castle.
