Sardinia is well known for its delightful natural beauty, with clear blue seas, picturesque beaches and rugged landscapes, but also for its delicious food and lively people. The curious name of the hotel, and the beach upon which it is found, is taken from a Greek legend – when the ancient Greeks landed in this part of Sardinia they received a cherished sign from the gods, the appearance sight of a Pelican whose wings were tinted gold as it flew into the sunset. Just as legendary, however, is the beauty of the beach, with its white sands and crystal blue seas.
Being an adults-only establishment, the Pelican Beach Resort is a tranquil haven, perfect for holiday in total relaxation. Aside from the beach the hotel also offers a delightful swimming pool, and great view from its fitness terrace and the sun terrace. The excellent restaurant serves traditional Sardinian food that incorporates fresh sea food and local produce straight from the fertile Sardinian countryside. You can choose to have your meal on the terrace at sunset or under the moonlight whilst you savour the taste of Sardinian wine. The restaurant is also available for lunch and day time refreshing snacks. At breakfast time a delightful selection of freshly baked croissants, coffee (Italian style), jam, cheese, and yoghurt from local farms are served up to fuel you with delicious energy for the day.
After all that food, lying around in the sun and taking advantage of your spa access, you might need a lie down in a luxurious and comfortable bedroom. Your room is spacious, accommodating and comes will all the expected mod-cons. Decorated in a neutral and bright colours, the room fills with light from the large window that opens up onto your balcony from which you can gaze at the blue sea and, on a clear day, spot the Tavolara Island. BY PLANE
Olbia Costa Smeralda Airport (OLB) is located just southwest of Olbia, around 11 km / 6.8 mi (14 minutes') drive from the hotel. The airport is fairly well served with direct seasonal flights from a number of capitals and large cities across Europe, while year-round flights operate from elsewhere in Italy.
From the airport to the hotel:
• Taxi: taxis are found outside the arrivals terminal, the journey to Olbia city centre is around 8 minutes.
• Bus: local buses 2 and 10 run from the airport into the city centre, the bus stop is a short walk from the arrivals area.
• Car: car rentals are located just a short walk from the arrivals area, be sure to book your car in advance!
