The Berns Hotel **** sits in a historic building from 1863, just steps from Stockholm's port, the Berzelii Park just outside the entrance and just a 20 minute walk from the island of Djurgården with its parks, amusement park and the famous Vasa Museum (maritime museum).

BY PLANE

  • There are 2 main airport serving Stockholm. The closest to the city centre is Stockholm Arlanda which is only 43km (around 27mi) from the city, and is served by most major airlines. Stockholm Skavsta is served by low-cost airlines, however it is 106km (around 66mi) from the city. It takes a 1h15 drive or a 1h20 bus ride to get to Stockholm.

    TO STOCKHOLM ARLANDA:
    - From the UK: British Airways fly from London–Heathrow. Norwegian Air Shuttle fly from London-Gatwick & Manchester and SAS fly from Birmingham, Edinburgh London–Heathrow, Manchester.

    - From Ireland: SAS fly from Dublin.

    - From Germany: Air Berlin fly from Berlin–Tegel, Germanwings from Cologne/Bonn, Hamburg Düsseldorf& Hamburg. Lufthansa fly Frankfurt and Munich. The Scandinavian airlines Norwegian Air Shuttle fly from Berlin–Schönefeld & Munich and SAS fly from Berlin–Tegel, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt Hamburg, Munich.

    - From the Netherlands: from Amsterdam KLM, Norwegian Air Shuttle & SAS all fly to Stockholm.

    - From Denmark, Norway, Finland: Finnair fly from Helsinki as well as Norwegian Air Shuttle who also fly from Copenhagen & Oslo–Gardermoen. SAS fly from Copenhagen, Billund, Oslo–Gardermoen and Helsinki.

    - From France: Air France and SAS fly both from Paris–Charles de Gaulle. Norwegian Air Shuttle & SAS both also fly from Nice.

    TO STOCKHOLM SKAVSTA:
    Ryanair is the principal airline operation out of Skavsta with regular flights from Paris Beauvais, Bremen, Copenhagen (begins 25 October 2015) and London–Stansted. Ryanair also operates seasonal flights mainly from Barcelona, Charleroi and Marseille.

HOW TO GET FROM THE AIRPORT TO THE HOTEL

  • FROM STOCKHOLM ARLANDA
    - By Taxi: From the airport you take a taxi at the taxi ranks. The journey will take about 40 minutes and cost about 370 SEK – 470 SEK (around 40€-51€/£29-£37).

    - By Bus: the Flygbussarna Airport Coaches provide direct transfers to the main railway station of Stockholm. The trip takes about 45 minutes and there are departures up to every 10 minutes in both directions. A one-way ticket costs 99 SEK (11€/£8) if booked online or 119 SEK (13€/£9) if bought on the bus. Buying a return ticket online is by far the most cost effective solution costing only 215 SEK (23€/£17).

    FROM STOCKHOLM SKAVSTA
    - By Taxi: From the airport you take a taxi at the taxi ranks. The journey will take about 1h15 minutes and cost about 1090 SEK – 1190 SEK (around 117€-128€/£85-£93).

    - By Bus: the Flygbussarna Airport Coaches provide direct transfers to the main railway station of Stockholm. The trip takes about 1h20 minutes and there are departures about every 20 minutes in both directions. A one-way ticket costs 139 SEK (15€/£11) if booked online or 159 SEK (17€/£12) if bought on the bus. Buying a return ticket online is by far the most cost effective solution costing only 285 SEK (31€/£22).

    From the central Railway station it is only a 13 minute walk or a 6 minute taxi ride to the hotel. A taxi is going to cost around 11€ (£8). Uber service is also an option to consider as it will allow you to forgo dealing with exchanging money when you arrive and as the prices are very similar to taxi prices.

    From the station exit through the front doors and walk down Klarabergsgatan until you reach the roundabout. At the roundabout continue down Hamngatan. Keep walking down Hamngatan past TGI Friday’s that will be in a park to your right, and past the Asics store also on your right. Turn right at Berzelii Park where you will see the hotel in front of you.
