Roche-Posay is a small and picturesque medieval town situated next to the River Creuse, in mid-west France. The Loges du Parc & Spa is ideally situated in the town centre and invites guests in for a stay of pure relaxation. I fell for the establishment as soon as I saw its Belle Époque façade, which dates from 1905 and is so emblematic of spa towns in France.
We were greeted very pleasantly at reception and went straight back out into the late morning sunshine to have a look around the gardens. With the plants in full bloom, it was a lovely sight; the rose bushes and peonies smelt delicious. I (the water lover that I am) was delighted to spot a gorgeous spring water infinity swimming pool; I felt almost magnetically drawn to the sparkling water and the sun loungers that surrounded it.
Indeed, we were both entirely enveloped by the feeling of calm that hangs in the air, and you can’t help but slow down and relax. I couldn’t wait to go to the Spa Source either, which is located just two minutes from the hotel, in the thermal springs and surrounded by sweeping trees and rose bushes.
Impatient to indulge in some pampering, we went back inside to find our suite. On the way, we passed by the Gustave III dining room, which is decorated in an 18th-century Swiss style. White, gold and blue, it’s crowned with Tiepolo-style cherubs and makes for a soothing and bright space in which to have our breakfasts here under the welcoming gaze of portraits of former famous guests, including André Gide, Jean Cocteau and Florence Gould. This intimate establishment is brimming with history, preserving a refined breed of luxury that inspires complete relaxation.
And so we finally entered our suite, which, like the rest of the hotel, has been renovated in a stylish country house style. Very spacious, with a living room and a double bedroom, we felt completely at home. A flat screen television, Wi-Fi, a magnificent bathroom: everything is designed for your comfort. All you have to think about is relaxing in the gardens or at the Spa Source next door. Spring water and an enchanting setting: this has to be the best remedy for vanquishing stress and rediscovering your inner peace.
