Hostería de Torazo Nature ★★★★

With stunning views over the mountains and the rolling green countryside, the Hostería de Torazo Nature is a real feast for the eyes. When we arrived, after a long journey through magnificent countryside, I was taken aback by the feeling of calm and serenity that filled the air. This was the first time we had visited northern Spain, and so we decided to toast our new adventure with a glass of champagne on the cafeteria terrace. What a gorgeous view! The establishment has a truly unique and special feel.

Used to high temperatures, palm trees and beaming sunshine, but having always been drawn to the green landscapes, remote bays and high mountains of Spain’s Atlantic coast, we had decided to come and explore Asturias. This region seems to have been designed especially for romantic getaways! So why settle for just one glass of champagne? After taking our bags up to our comfortable and cosy room (decorated in a classic, contemporary style), we ordered a couple more, along with a selection of delicious tapas for supper. Here, you can savour authentic and tasty tapas made with local products. Queso de Cabrales, jamón iberico, pimientos: what a treat! We stayed there late into the evening, until we felt the first cool breeze tickle our shoulders.

The following morning, waking to birdsong, we immediately noticed the beautiful weather outside. Blue sky and sunshine beckoned us out into the peaceful countryside. We headed to the swimming pool for a few lengths to wake up and get ready for the day ahead. And then it was time for breakfast. At the Hostería de Torazo Nature, you can enjoy a generous buffet breakfast including a great selection of fresh fruit: the perfect way to start the day feeling energised and healthy. It was already eleven: one easily adjusts to the Spanish lifestyle! As far as our schedule was concerned, we had decided that our first day would be dedicated to relaxation and then we would explore the region over the following few days. So after breakfast, we made our way to the hotel spa, to be pampered and beautified. There is a wide range of treatments to choose from, including a ‘Shiro-Abhyanga’ massage, body peel and relaxing body massage. It really does feel wonderful to indulge in some luxurious pampering every now and then.

Over the following few days we explored the Asturian coastline: high cliffs, remote bays, salty air and wild countryside. The coastal flora of ferns and heather give the region a unique charm. Then, about twenty miles from the beaches, you can reach the mountains and a completely different natural environment. Beech trees, birch, holly and oaks: it is so strange to think you’re by the sea. Seagulls are replaced by golden eagles that sweep over the craggy mountainsides, a sight you will not forget in a hurry. As we walked along the cliff sides and mountain paths, we just felt better and better: more and more reinvigorated.

We returned home to the UK re-energised, with our minds full of the memories of those beautiful Asturian landscapes. Our first experience of the Spanish Atlantic coast has entirely seduced us. The stunning coastline and countryside is the perfect antidote to city life, and the Hostería de Torazo Nature ensures your complete comfort and relaxation.
