In our room, there was more slate and subdued colours and a sophisticated air, with some lovely swirling tilework covering one wall. It was smallish, as you would expect in central Paris, but elegantly furnished and very comfortable. A cute little balcony meant we could sit out and absorb the sights and sounds of Paris. Lovely! In the bathroom, a huge, extravagantly decorated mirror, and a bath as well as a shower.
In the morning we descended fresh and rested to the dining room. Slate-grey walls and pale wood chairs made for a lovely cool atmosphere. The breakfast buffet was absolutely superb, with a choice of cooked and fresh foods, and I watched with a mixture of astonishment and maternal pride as my niece stocked up, apparently trying to catch up on weeks of under-nourishment and perhaps even stave off the lean weeks ahead!
We thoroughly enjoyed our long Parisian weekend, strolling through the charming streets and browsing the endless boutiques, and we promised to do it again soon. We have both set our hearts on a return to the charming Hotel Eugène en Ville for that guaranteed touch of gaiety!

- Le Café des Chats. Yes, that is a café where cats are welcome! We came upon this place strolling around the Marais, and we couldn’t resist. Good coffee, casual friendly staff and super-friendly cats!

Vanessa Bruno’s boutique in St-Germain captures the very essence of Parisian style with feminine dresses, asymmetrical coats and tote bags in leather and coloured canvas.

(+ 33) 1 43 54 41 04 - New Morning. We loved this this ultra-modern jazz venue, specialising in free jazz, fusion and funk. It also attracted star names like Stan Getz, Chet Baker, Dizzy Gillespie, and Miles Davis. Lovely atmosphere, lots of students and hip not-so-youngsters.
7-9 Rue des Petites Écuries, 75010 Paris

It is situated in a lovely town house from the Napoleon III period and with furnishing and décor entirely of the period. It’s worth a look just for the house, but there are some really wonderful perfumery objects and history as well.

BY PLANE
Paris is served by three main airports: Paris Charles de Gaulle (CDG), located 25 km (16 mi) to the northeast of Paris, Paris Orly (ORY), located 13 km (8.1 mi) south of Paris, and Paris Beauvais (BVA), around 85 km (53 mi) north of Paris (near the city of Beauvais).
Paris Charles de Gaulle and Paris Orly receive flights from most capitals and major cities across Europe. Meanwhile, low-cost airlines (notably Ryanair), operate flights to Paris Beauvais from many cities across Europe.
HOW TO GET FROM THE AIRPORT TO THE HOTEL
- From Roissy-Charles de Gaulle: Take the RER B to Gare du Nord. From there it is a 15-minute walk to the hotel, but you can also choose to finish the journey with a short taxi ride.
- From Paris-Orly: Take the Orlyval until Antony, and take the RER B until Gare du Nord. From there it is a 15-minute walk to the hotel, but you can also choose to finish the journey with a short taxi ride.
BY TRAIN
From the UK it is possible to book via Eurostar, otherwise Thalys or TGV operate from other neighbouring counties and elsewhere in France. Most international trains arrive at either Paris Gare du Nord or Paris Gare de l’Est.
From Gare du Nord to the hotel it is a 15-minute walk to the hotel, but you can also choose to finish the journey with a short taxi ride. Walk down Rue de Maubeuge, turn right on Rue de la Tour d’Auvergne and then left onto Rue des Martys. The hotel will be on your right.
BY METRO
The closest metro stations are Notre Dame de Lorette (line 12), Cadet and Le Pelletier (line 7).
