Set amid 40 acres of picturesque parkland, the stunning Ettington Park Hotel transports you back in time with its spindly turrets, stunning brickwork and heaps of period decor. However, this historic neo-gothic mansion maintains very modern standards of luxury, as well as housing one of the finest restaurants around, perfect for a sumptuous dinner or lavish afternoon tea. Situated between Shakespeare’s Stratford-upon-Avon, some idyllic countryside and famous sights such as Warwick Castle, this elegant country manor is a dreamy setting for a countryside escape.

It is hard to imagine a more quintessentially English setting for a weekend in the country than Ettington Park Hotel, surrounded by beautiful green countryside and quaint villages, and just outside the hometown of one of the greatest Englishmen of them all, William Shakespeare. This part of the country has no shortage of historical intrigue, whether it’s following in the footsteps of the famous bard around the picturesque streets of Stratford-upon-Avon, reliving medieval warfare at the majestic Warwick Castle or simply pottering around the traditional villages of the Cotswolds.

The hotel itself more than lives up to its historic surroundings, a spectacular neo-gothic mansion with hundreds of years of history. It certainly makes a striking first impression as you sweep through the tree-lined driveway, glimpse the beautifully coloured stone of the imposing building’s elegant facades and gaze up at the towering turrets and arched windows. The Ettington Park Hotel is surrounded by 40 acres of parkland in the Warwickshire countryside, it is just 6 miles from Stratford-upon-Avon and a few miles from the start of The Cotswold Way.

BY TRAIN

The closest train station is Stratford-upon-Avon Station, about 15-20 minutes taxi ride from the hotel. Train times, routes and tickets can be found online with National Rail.

International trains arrive first to London’s St. Pancras International Station and can be found and booked via Rail Europe (together, the companies Eurostar , TGV and Thalys operate high-speed train services from France, Belgium, Germany, and the Netherlands etc.).

Once in London, take the underground Victoria Line to Oxford Circus and change to the Bakerloo Line to Marylebone. From there you may take a train to Stratford-upon-Avon, costing around £30 (around 41€) and taking around 2 hours.

BY CAR

Arriving from on the M40 from the North or South:
Leave the M40 at junction 15 and take the A429 signposted towards Stow and Cirencester. Continue on this road and after approximately 15 miles at roundabout, do not turn left towards Ettington Village, but continue straight ahead on the A429 towards Stow and Cirencester. After approximately 1/2 a mile, turn right at the sign to Ettington Park. Continue for approximately 1 mile and the entrance to the hotel is via the second turning on your left after the Business Park.

Arriving from Stratford-upon-Avon:
From the centre of Stratford-upon-Avon, head out on the A3400 towards Shipston and Oxford. Continue along this road for approximately 5 miles, and once through the village of Alderminster, the hotel entrance will be on your left hand side, immediately after the turning for Ettington.

BY PLANE

There are several small and little served airports around the inn however, the easiest well served airport to get to the hotel from is Birmingham International Airport around 31 miles / 50 km (40 minutes’ drive) from the hotel.

- From the UK: Eastern Airways fly only from Newcastle upon Tyne. EasyJet operated flights from Belfast-International while Flybe fly from Aberdeen, Belfast-City, Edinburgh and Glasgow-International.

- From Ireland: Aer Lingus, Ryanair only fly from Dublin while Stobart Air operated flights out of Cork, Dublin and Shannon. VLM Airlines fly from Waterford.

- From Germany: Flybe fly from Berlin-Tegel, Düsseldorf and Stuttgart. Eurowings operated from Düsseldorf and Hamburg. Lufthansa fly out of Frankfurt, Munich (begins 1 August 2015) while Lufthansa CityLine fly from Munich.

- From the Netherlands: Flybe, KLM & KLM Cityhopper all fly from Amsterdam.

- From Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland: Scandinavian Airlines only fly from Copenhagen.

- From France: EasyJet operates seasonal flights from Grenoble while Flybe fly regularly from Bordeaux, Lyon, Paris-Charles de Gaulle and seasonally form Avignon, Bergerac, Biarritz, Brest, Chambéry, Deauville (begins 23 June 2015) and La Rochelle. Monarch fly from Nice regularly and froom Grenoble seasonally. Ryanair operated seasonal flights from Perpignan. Thomas Cook has seasonal flights from Grenoble while Thomson Airways operates seasonally only from Chambéry.

HOW TO GET FROM THE AIRPORT TO THE HOTEL

- By Taxi: Taxis can be found at the airport or booked online in advance. The basic fare to reach the hotel should be around £60 (around 83€).

- By Bus or Train: National Express operate buses to Stratford-upon-Avon taking around 2 and a half hours for around £8 (around 11€). Otherwise trains are also available (indirect, with a changeover at Birmingham New Street Station and walking to Birmingham Moor Street) the total travel time is around 1 and a half hours and the ticket should cost around £12 (around 17€).

- By Car: You may also consider renting a car at the airport, this would be useful to explore the area during your stay, and visiting nearby towns such as Stratford-upon-Avon. (See above for GPS coordinates and directions).
