Hotel della Conciliazione ★★★★

Luxurious roads lead to the indulgent Della Conciliazione in Rome.

By Melanie Webb, VeryChic correspondent
All roads lead to Rome. So it was inevitable that one day I should be making my way to this city that holds such history and culture. One of my favourite things is stories, which I assume is where my affection for travelling comes from, discovering stories from the past and the present is what a journey is all about. And Rome has so many stories to discover, so I could not wait to arrive there, and do as the Roman’s do! It was time to make my own story with the help of the Della Conciliazione!

  • The view from the top of Castel Sant’Angelo. From the outside it looks like a simple old castle but the views from the top are astounding and inside lays many hidden gems. To appreciate its history buy an audio guide and bring some earphones! Lungotevere Castello, 50, 00186
  • This small but mighty gallery of colonnades. Galleria Colonna, inside you will find beguiling art from the Italian Renaissance. It is a sight to behold! Piazza SS. Apostoli 66, 00187
  • NO.AU is ‘knowhow’ in phonetic transcription, and that they do. They certainly know how to charm visitors with their artsy bohemian space, hidden in the back alleys of the Centro Storico. Stop in for an Italian craft beer and one of their small snacks, like hand-cut chips. They also offer more substantial dishes, all sourced from small local organic producers. Piazza di Montevecchio 16a, 00186
  • Leave behind the noise of the city for a while in the fabulous fragrant Rose Garden at the foot of the Aventino Hill. Tel: +39 06 5746810 – Via di Valle Murcia, 6
