  • Madrid is a city with an incredible artistic scene. Though you should not miss the so-called ‘golden triangle’ of art (located very close to the hotel and comprising the Prado, the Reina Sofia and the Thyssen Bornemisza Museums), you should also look further afield. One of our favourite museums is the Museo Sorolla, a collection of Spanish artist Joaquin Sorolla’s finest works set in his own beautiful private mansion. Calle General Martinez Campos, 37
  • For something a little different head to the Caixa Forum, one of Madrid’s most unusual museums. Set in an old converted power station, the architecture itself is spectacular, while the museum also holds an excellent collection of modern art and hosts regular exhibitions. Paseo del Prado, 36
  • When the intensity of the city centre gets too much, our favourite spot to escape from it all and get some peace and quiet is the Templo de Debod. An authentic ancient Egyptian temple gifted to Madrid in the 70s, it feels slightly out of place but is undeniably peaceful, while the surrounding gardens offer some of the best views in the city. Calle Ferraz, 1
