“There is not in Italy what there is in Sardinia, nor in Sardinia what there is in Italy.” – Zoologist, Francesco Cetti
You’ll find your resort located in the north of the island on the shores of Lago del Liscia – a vast and dramatic lake, fringed by emerald green hills and hilltop villages. Small and unimposing, the Aldiola is made up of a number of traditional pastoral style Sardinian villas, painted in bright terracotta and fronted by thatched awnings. Surrounded by nature, greenery and wild flowers it’s situated on the hilltop and commands a spectacular lakeside view.
“Sardinia is out of time and history.” – D H Lawrence, Sea and Sardinia
This is the type of place where you can come to unwind and forget that your life back home even exists at all. In your new Sardinian home, your very own terracotta villa, decorated in tones of cream and lemon with light wood furniture with local handicrafts and fabrics, you’ll already begin to relax into your environment and have time to marvel at those tranquil lake views.
“This land resembles no other place. Sardinia is something else. Enchanting spaces and distances to travel-nothing finished, nothing definitive. It is like freedom itself.” – D H Lawrence, Sea and Sardinia
As well as the large hotel swimming pool at the centre of the resort, guests will find the gorgeous Costa Esméralda just 20km away. Here at the playground of the rich and famous, you’ll find some of the island’s best beaches including Cala Capra, Spiaggia Rosa with its coral pink sand and the natural enclave of Pevero Beach. There are also plenty of hiking, boating and nature excursions to be discovered around the area.
Sardinia, like many of Italy’s islands, has its own unique cuisine, whilst at the same time adding in Italian favorites of pastas, cheeses and tomatoes. Dishes to try while you’re here include spit roast suckling pig, malloreddus pasta made from saffron, marinated dogfish, and culurgiones – ravioli stuffed with potatoes and mint and sprinkled with pecorino cheese. Picture yourself sitting at the onsite restaurant overlooking Lake Liscia, sampling these local delicacies paired with a glass of wine, and you’ll begin to understand what life here is really like. The restaurant’s a la carte menu also features other Mediterranean specialties such as seafood, meats, pastas and cheeses.
“Life in Sardinia is probably the best a man can wish: twenty-four-thousands kilometers of forests, countryside, shores immersed in a miraculous sea, this corresponds to what I would suggest God to give us as Paradise.” – Fabrizio De Andrè
