Portugal’s capital Lisbon definitely deserves all the fuss surrounding it, with its colourful array of buildings, magnificent cathedrals ancient monasteries and fascinating museums. Despite being a capital city, however, it also manages to retain a quaint charm – old yellow trams still run up and down its steep winding streets and locals still sit gossip at pavement cafes. To fully explore this gem of a city, book yourself a stay at the modern and contemporary Occidental Lisboa ****.

Chic idea: to make the most of your time in Lisbon, book your tickets here in advance for a wide range of activities.
