G-rough

Unconventional luxury in Rome’s historic centre, with spacious suites and unique design.

By Edward Fairbairn, VeryChic correspondent
The G-Rough describes its offering as ‘unconventional luxury’, which doesn’t quite do justice to one of the most unique and eye-catching hotels around. The hotel may be brand new, opened in 2015, but the 16th century palazzo in which it resides has been meticulously designed to look more than a little rough around the edges. Walls are stripped bare to emphasise the historic side of the building, while vintage pieces by leading designers from the 1930s to the 1950s create a chic retro vibe. It is all aimed at creating an authentically Italian sense of luxury based on history and design, and Rome’s enchanting ‘centro storico’ could hardly provide a more perfect backdrop.
