View all offersModern minimalism reigns in this angular building. Andrea is responsible for the choice of materials, the form of the structure, and the overall style of the hotel. Concrete-free; because to do otherwise would have too strong an impact on the environment. Instead, polished seastone, a rare type of limestone that is quarried nearby, coats the premises providing a naked canvas for the frequent art exhibitions that adorn the walls. The large, uncluttered spaces, drenched in sunlight and soft mineral colours are offset by chocolaty wood features and furnishings. Speaking of chocolate, I smell something good!
Back in the 70s, Fausto and Gabriella Colzani opened their first bakery, a haven for locals with a sweet tooth who inevitably contributed to the steady growth of the small family business. Marco has taken his parents’ concept into the 21st century at the C-Café – the hotel’s award-winning café. The secret to his success lies in the use of fresh, local products and seasonal ingredients, banishing chemicals and industrial processing, endorsing free trade and eco-friendly principles. Guests can also buy homemade jams, local jams, tea, fruit juice, and even books to take home with them as a souvenir.
The 18 spacious suites, which all benefit from floor-to-ceiling, wall-to-wall windows, are all fine examples of up-to-the-minute ‘bio architecture’. Control everything from the floor heating to the well-designed lighting, the humidity levels to the quality of the air in your room, all at the push of a button. A king-size bed and soundproofing assure a good nights' rest.
At Materia Prima (which means Raw Materials) you will not be confronted with a conventional menu separating dishes into starters, main courses, and desserts. Instead, you can pick and choose from the simple list of wonderfully creative dishes made entirely from scratch using only local, organic produce.
Three thermal pools, Turkish baths, a Jacuzzi, a relaxation zone, and a solarium allow guests to recharge their batteries in the exclusive spa. Only one guest (or group of guests) is allowed at a time, preserving the cosy, intimate feel of this little sanctuary. There’s also a well-equipped fitness centre if you went a little overboard on the chocolates!
The service here is friendly, discreet and all-encompassing. The concierge can help you organise your stay, book guided tours of the region, lend you a bike, hire you a babysitter, personal trainer or even personal shopper. He can also help organise professional events.
