Porto Elounda Golf Resort & Spa ***** is found in a small fishing village on the northern coast of the island of Crete, right by the sea. Elounda is only a 15-minute drive from Agios Nikolaos, the local capital city, with lake “Vouliagmeni” at its heart where Athena and Artemis – they say – used to wash their hair.
BY PLANE
Crete's main airport, Heraklion International Airport, “Nikos Kazantzakis” (HER), sits just east of Heraklion on the central northern coast, around 65 km / 40 mi / 56 minutes' drive from the hotel. The airport receives flights from a large number of cities across Europe, including the UK. Many flights operate in the summer season, otherwise it may be required to fly indirect via Athens.
From the airport to the hotel:
• Taxi: the taxi rank can be found outside the airport’s main terminal, however we highly recommend booking a taxi/transfer service in advance.
• Bus: buses run about once an hour to Aghios Nikolaos, taking around 90 minutes. From there, take a local bus to Elounda, taking around 18 minutes.
• Car: major car rentals can be found at the airport terminals, Heraklion Airport (and city) is connected to Elounda to the east via the E75 motorway, the drive should take a little under 60 minutes.GPS coordinates: 35.240928, 25.733131
