It’s a sunny spring morning, the lawn is dusted with dew droplets creating a kaleidoscopic of colour from the sun’s sparkling rays, and you can hear the beautiful birds who, basking in this new found warmth, are chirping happily in the trees. As the horse and cart pulls to a halt, you smell the soft scent of rose petals. This is an aroma that brings with it the nostalgic memory of cherished years gone by. So familiar and comforting, it reflects the entire ambience at The Hôtel Edouard VII, also known as Villa des Rosiers. You see him there, at the end of the cobbled pathway, dressed in his royal blue uniform – officer’s badges glistening. He smirks, his wry smile unchanging, you breathe a sigh of relief.
