Duomo Hotel & Apartments

Stylish apartments close to the Gothic Duomo.

By Louise Jackson, VeryChic correspondent
Duomo Hotel & Apartments puts you at the heart of Milan, take a short stroll out of the doors and… “What a wonder it is! So grand, so solemn, so vast! And yet so delicate, so airy, so graceful! A very world of solid weight, and yet it seems ... a delusion of frostwork that might vanish with a breath! They say that the Cathedral of Milan is second only to St. Peter's at Rome. I cannot understand how it can be second to anything made by human hands.” The American writer and journalist Mark Twain describing Milan’s Duomo, after visiting in 1867.

PLANE

  • Milan's main airport is Milan-Malpensa Airport (MXP) around 40 km / 25 mi northwest of Milan city centre. It is fairly well-served internationally, with flights from most capitals and other large cities across Europe. Milan's less well-served secondary airport is Linate Airport (LIN) just 7 km / 4 mi east of the city centre. Alternatively, Orio al Serio International Airport (BGY), also known as Il Caravaggio International Airport, or unofficially as Milan-Bergamo Airport, is located near Bergamo, around 45 km / 28 mi northeast of Milan. It receives a number of flights from across Europe, notably from low cost airlines like Ryanair.

From the airports to the hotel:
    • From Linate Airport a taxi should take less than 30 minutes to reach the hotel. Alternatively, take line 4 of the metro from the airport to San Babila, a 5 minute walk from the hotel.
    • From Malpensa Airport a taxi should take around 50 minutes to reach the hotel. Alternatively, take the Malpensa Express train to Milano Cadorna station, then either line 1 of the metro to Duomo, or tram line 1 to Teatro Alla Scala, both around 5 minutes' walk from the hotel – the journey should take around an hour.
    • From Bergamo Airport a taxi will take around 1 hour to reach the hotel. Alternatively, take the airport express bus to Milano Centrale station followed by metro line 3 to Duomo, 5 minutes' walk from the hotel – the journey should take around 1 hour and 20 minutes.

Note: taxis are a very expensive option in Milan, in particular from Malpensa & Bergamo airports.
