When the Lalla Takerkoust Lake was first built in the early 1930s to provide electricity for Marrakech and surrounding areas, little did they know they would create along with it a natural haven that tourists would flock to. The wonderful lakeside setting of the hotel serves as a perfect position to get back in touch with nature through exhilarating outdoor pursuits such as hiking, horse and even camel riding, all against the spectacular backdrop of the Atlas Mountains.

The airport that serves the city is Marrakech Menara Airport, 3 km away from the city centre.
- From the UK: Direct flights from London are offered by British Airways, Thomson Airways, EasyJet and Ryanair. Thomson Airways and EasyJet also operate direct flights from Bristol and Manchester. British Airways also fly indirect from other cities such as Belfast.
- From Ireland: Ryanair fly direct from Dublin.
- From Germany: EasyJet fly direct out of Berlin, Royal Air Maroc from Munich and Germanwings from Cologne. Ryanair also fly direct from Dusseldorf and Frankfurt.
