As anyone who has been lucky enough to travel to the Thai capital will tell you, the feeling of arriving in the unrivalled atmosphere of Bangkok can be likened to being dropped headfirst into a swirling pool of endless sound and colour. Dizzying markets that hum with palpable energy are stocked with every product under the sun, whilst crowds swarm through vast shopping centres bursting with designer boutiques and ancient temples oozing history and culture; it’s a truly intense experience for all the senses. So when I discovered the unadulterated luxury of the Cape House, I was absolutely delighted to have this haven of respite to come home to at the end of a hectic day.
As I walked into my suite for the first time, I breathed a sigh of relief; the serene atmosphere offers a welcome stark contrast to the urban pandemonium outside. Don’t get me wrong – I couldn’t wait to explore the numerous city highlights within walking distance, including Lumpini Park, Siam Square and Pratunam Market, but I was also looking forward to curling up in the warm embrace of the vast comfortable bed. The bright, stylish accommodation also offers a walk-in shower, a separate bathtub and modern amenities including a widescreen TV and free Wi-Fi, ensuring you have the most pleasant of stays.
But it wasn’t just my suite I could relax in – on multiple occasions I caved into the allure of the glittering surface of the magnificent outdoor pool, and the warmth of the bubbling hot tub cured my aching legs after my busy days of city sightseeing. And, when I was in the mood for some extra pampering, the massage and steam rooms hit the spot. As for cuisine, guests of the Cape House are truly spoilt; the site is home to the No. 43 Italian Bistro, one of the city’s most renowned Italian establishments, who serve up mouth-watering dishes on your doorstep: what more could you want?
Whilst I utterly relish the excitement and exhilaration that is part and parcel of Bangkok, I was supremely glad I decided to stay in the Cape House: it added a much needed portion of comfort and luxury, which might have just made my exotic escapade my best yet.
