Treat yourself to this relaxing retreat in a lovely country house, that’s a lot closer than many British destinations, where the weather is kinder, and the camembert is exquisite! • Trouville has a long expanse of sandy beach and a pretty fishing harbour. There are cafes and shops along the estuary of the river rather than the sea front. Look out also for the Town Hall, built in Louis XIII style, and the ‘Escalier du Serpent’, a series of 100 steps taking you up to the heights of Trouville and offering fabulous views of the town and sea.
  • Sa-Qua-Na. This restaurant in the centre of Honfleur boasts two esteemed stars. It is original, creative, untraditional and with an enthusiastic young team of staff. Everything on it is presented with flair and artistry and utterly delicious.

  • La Fromagère et le Vigneron. A lovely combination of a cheese and wine bar where you can taste both before you buy. They also vacuum pack your cheese purchases to save the pungent aromas from spreading through your luggage as you take it home!

  • Casino Barriere. Deauville, the jewel of la Côte Fleurie, is a popular weekend destination for Parisians, with the resulting up-market outlets. Instead of fish and chips, the seafront has chic brasseries serving oysters and langoustines. The Casino Barriere, just behind the seafront, is a sophisticated venue for a little light gambling, wining and dining.

BY PLANE

  • Caen–Carpiquet Airport (CFR), sits 6km (3.7 mi) to the west of Caen and around 1 hour drive from the hotel. Receiving only a handful of national flights however, a transfer for example in Lyon is required.

Deauville–Normandie Airport (DOL), sits 7 km (4 mi) east of Deauville and around 8 minute's drive from the hotel. However, it is also little served.

Rennes–Saint-Jacques Airport (RNS), sits about 6 km (3.7 mi) southwest of Rennes and around 2 hours and 38 minute's drive from the hotel. The airport receives mostly national flights, so a transfer via another French city, for example Paris or Lyon, is likely required.

We otherwise recommend flying to Paris and taking a train, car or bus from there.

    To the hotel:

Caen–Carpiquet Airport: public bus number 3 serves will take you through the city centre, otherwise a taxi rank is available outside airport arrivals, or you can book a car rental in advance.

Deauville–Normandie Airport: the easiest way to travel from the airport to the hotel is by car, we recommend booking a car rental in advance.

Rennes-Saint-Jacques Airport: the easiest way to travel from the airport to the hotel is by car, we recommend booking a car rental in advance.

Paris: either book a car rental at the airport, or make your way to Paris St Lazare train station from which trains depart to Caen every hour, taking 2 hours.
