If you’re anything like me and you love finding little hotel gems that go above and beyond your average city break stay, then I can’t wait to tell you about the Max Brown Hotel Midtown in Düsseldorf. You’ll find it tucked in the centre of the devastatingly trendy Japanese Quarter – an ideal location to take advantage of all the unique shops, restaurants and bars that are waiting for you just a short walk from the front door. While the urban exterior is typical of the cutting edge vibe present all around this quirky neighbourhood, what I found inside was far from conventional! Inviting plush furnishings and vintage accessories paired with an industrial inspired design strike a chord between urban chic and a homely warmth that’s hard to find and even harder to pull off; yet the team here managed to do it with finesse.
At Max Brown Hotel Midtown they believe you shouldn’t have to compromise on luxury for the sake of cutting edge style, and this ethos really shines through in all of their bedrooms. Whether you choose a snug quarter for one or something a bit more spacious, all rooms demonstrate effortless elegance and bespoke luxury. After a long day sampling the delights of the city, my favourite way to unwind was to put a record on the Crosely record player and get pampered with the high-end Dead Clean spa products that come complimentary with each room. Beer tasting and adventuring is hard work, after all!
Think that all this hotel has to offer is supremely comfortable rooms and innovative interior design? Think again! Adventure awaits downstairs, where after your free breakfast you can hire a bike from one of the many friendly faces behind the bar and find out for yourself what Düsseldorf is all about. Rather like the Max Brown Hotel Midtown, Düsseldorf is all about a fusion of old and new, a beautifully balanced mêlée of cultures, history and vibrant cosmopolitan life that makes it such a thrilling place to be. Cycling through the centre of Düsseldorf alongside the lush emerald trees that border the canal and having the chance to see this bubbling city first hand was a real highlight of my time here. At the Max Brown Hotel Midtown, they believe that decadent luxury and a downtown funk style and can be brought together to create something truly special – and that’s why I know I’ll be coming back here time and time again.
