Hotel Le Fer à Cheval

A hotel which both finds itself in the town centre, and yet somehow affords a sense of peace and tranquillity is highly unusual and a real treasure. For us, this hotel was love at first sight! The Hôtel Le Fer à Cheval, whilst in the middle of the lively Trouville-sur- Mer, sits on a small side street which gives it a wonderful feeling of privacy and exclusivity. The décor throughout the hotel is quintessential French elegance, with a minimalist palette of creams and chocolates that oozes elegance without detracting from its warm personality.

Something we both really loved was the quality of service within the hotel. The Bisson family, who own the establishment, welcomed us in with open arms as if we were old friends. It is clear from the immense attention to detail and thought that goes into every process that they care deeply about the hotel, even baking breakfast pastries from scratch in their own kitchen! Our double room was spacious yet wonderfully cosy and, thanks to being on the top floor, gave us a picture-perfect view of the marina and the evening sun glinting off the rooftops that would melt the heart of even the steeliest cynic.

If there’s absolutely anything that can get me out of a bed that comfortable in the morning, it’s the smell of freshly baked croissants wafting up to my room (and even then, it took some persuading on my boyfriend’s part). The breakfast served here at the Hôtel Le Fer à Cheval was quite honestly sublime. In addition to the fresh baked goods concocted by confectioner Claude Bisson and a plethora of other sweet delights, there was an equally delicious spread of savoury goods for those amongst you with less of a sweet tooth. This hotel felt more like a second home to me than your average romantic getaway hotel – I’ll be counting down the days until I return!
