Cruise the Islands of the Cape Verde Archipelago

If you’re a fan of perfectly manicured holiday destinations and huge built up cities, then perhaps this isn’t your cup of tea. But if you’ve ever felt the call of adventure, the instinctive need we all have to boldly go where few have been before, then this Variety Cruise to Cape Verde will satisfy every craving and more! Standing at the head of the boat as we began our voyage and looking out over the deep cobalt blue waves, I felt like I was an intrepid explorer discovering these islands for the first time – a taste of the thrills to come!

Starting in the more populated areas of Praia, the luxury yacht whisks you away to gradually more remote islands, each possessing an air of magic unique to its diverse surroundings. So distinct in their characteristics are these different islands, it almost feels like you’re waking up somewhere completely new each morning as the boat docks! Pristine beaches, colourful towns and fiery volcanos are a few examples of the varied natural wonders we got to explore on this trip. Yet one thing remained the same throughout; all the islands stayed true to their deep set Portuguese roots and African influences. Humble, local owned restaurants are everywhere, offering an outstanding standard of authentic seafood and hospitality.  

The boat itself was also a delight to return to at the end of the day. Although, admittedly, I spent far more time outside than on the yacht, it provides every modern amenity and creature comfort to make it a luxurious home from home. In the time we did have to spare between sailing from port to port, the sun-deck was a popular spot for a brief pause of relaxation and sunbathing, as well as the library which provided astounding views of the Atlantic. Cape Verde’s pristine, unspoilt natural landscapes well and truly captured my heart – and I have a sneaking suspicion it will capture yours, too.
