The Colmeal Countryside Hotel **** is tucked away on the Serra da Marofa mountain ridge, near the Spanish border in northeastern Portugal, perfectly secluded in the municipality of Figueira de Castelo Rodrigo.

  • Porto is served by Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport (or simply Porto Airport), located about 80km northwest of the centre of Porto, and around 240km west of the hotel. Some flight options are listed below:

    - From the UK: Airlines flying direct from London are: British Airways, Tap Portugal, EasyJet and Ryanair. Flybe fly direct from Birmingham and indirect from Glasgow, Edinburgh and Belfast.

    - From Ireland: Ryanair operate direct flights from Dublin.

    - From Germany: TAP Portugal fly indirectly from Berlin and several other cities, whereas SATA fly direct from Munich and TAP Portugal & Ryanair fly direct from Dusseldorf and Frankfurt.

HOW TO GET FROM THE AIRPORT TO THE HOTEL

  • It is around 2 hours and 15 minutes' drive from Porto Airport to the hotel, directions are as follows:

    - Follow the direction of Porto onto A4 and A28.
    - Take the A1 in the direction of Lisbon.
    - Take exit 16 towards for the A25 towards Aveiro and Viseu, Guarda and Vilar Formoso.
    - Exit the A25 and take the N324 in the direction of Almeida
    - Turn left onto the N340 in the direction of Almeida
    - Go past Almeida and follow the N340 to Figueira de Castelo Rodrigo
    - At the roundabout, 5 km after Vilar Torpim, take the 4th exit onto the N221 in the direction of Pinhel
    - After 5 km turn right at “Colmeal”
    - Another 2 km and you have arrived at the Hotel
