The WestHouse ***** designers were clearly fans of the Great Gatsby style opulence. In the heart of the hotel, golds and warm earth toned palettes are used to create an opulent atmosphere, paired with modern touches and clean lines to keep the design classy rather than gimmicky. The rooms themselves are more contemporary still, emulating the New York townhouse feel and opting for a cooler toned palette for that timeless chic - although naturally a few handpicked twenties’ twists were mixed in for good measure! But this room is not a case of “all style no substance”; from the flat screen TV, to the luxury toiletries, even down to the bedding itself, everything here was premium. The WestHouse ***** leaves no stone unturned when it comes to bringing you the utmost luxury.
The magic of this hotel, however, is most certainly in its location. It not only has the unique ability to place Manhattan’s effervescent centre at your fingertips, but also to lift you above the throngs of crowds below and miraculously deliver you to your own peaceful oasis – the ultimate luxury in New York. In this case my paradise of choice was The Terrace, an exclusive 23rd floor lounge with outstanding views over the Hudson River and Manhattan’s iconic skyline, an unbeatable place to watch the sun set on the city that never sleeps!

The WestHouse Hotel New York ***** is situated in Midtown in the heart of Manhattan, not far from Carnegie Hall, Central Park and Fifth Avenue.
BY PLANE
New York is currently served by two main international airports: John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK), located around 12 mi (20 km) southeast of Lower Manhattan, and Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR), located around 15 mi (24 km) southwest of Midtown Manhattan, in New Jersey.
Between them they receive international flights from a large number of airlines and destinations, including from most capitals and many large cities across Europe.
HOW TO GET FROM THE AIRPORTS TO THE HOTEL
You may take a taxi from either airport, although not a very economical option and the price and journey time may vary greatly due to traffic. Above all, be sure to take licensed taxi (choose one from the designated taxi rank at the airport). Once you include and toll costs along the way and and the 15 % tip, the total cost can be up to around $70.
From JFK International Airport:
- By train: First take the AirTrain to Jamaica Station, then switch to the subway E train to 7th Av. From there, it is a few minutes walk, two blocks up 7th Avenue towards Central Park and then left onto West 55th Street.
- By bus: Take the NYC Airporter bus to Port Authority station in Manhattan (costing around $16 one-way / $29 round trip). Then take the subway E train to 7th Av, and from there it is a few minutes walk, two blocks up 7th Avenue towards Central Park, then left onto West 55th Street.
From Newark International Airport:
Take the Olympia Newark Express to Port Authority station (costing around $16 one-way / $28 round trip). Then take the subway E train to 7th Av, and from there it is a few minutes walk, two blocks up 7th Avenue towards Central Park, then left onto West 55th Street.
- By private shuttle: You can also take a private shuttle (capacity: 8 people maximum) with Shuttle New York, which will drop passengers off in front of their hotel. You can book in shared or a private shuttle, however you must book before you leave.
