The Hotel Palafitte ***** enjoys an exceptional setting in Switzerland, sitting literally on Lake Neuchâtel with the stunning backdrop of the Swiss Alps. It is just an hour’s drive from Bern, around an hour and a half from Geneva, and around 2 hours from Zurich.
PLANE
Bern Airport is the closest international airport (around 60 km / 37 mi to the east of the hotel). Relatively few flights operate to this airport, however, some are listed below:
SkyWork Airlines offer flights from London in the UK, Amsterdam in the Netherlands, Barcelona in Spain, Vienna in Austria and Berlin, Cologne, Hamburg & Munich in Germany. BMI Regional also provide flights from Munich.
Geneva Intenational Airport is the next closest, and better served, international airport (124 km / 76 mi to the south of the hotel). Some flights are listed below:
-From the UK: EasyJet, Swiss and British Airways all offer direct flights out of London. Easyjet also offers direct flights out of Bristol and Edinburgh
-From Ireland: Aer Lingus and Swiss offer direct flights from Dublin.
-From Germany: Easy jet offers direct flights from Hamburg and Berlin. Germanwings offers direct flights from Hamburg and Dusseldorf.
-From the Netherlands: Easyjet and KLM offer direct flights from Amsterdam.
-From Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland: Indirect flights are available with Brussels Airlines from all four respective capitals. Stockholm, Copenhagen, Helsinki, Oslo.
-From France: Air France offers direct flights from Paris and Marseille. Swiss offers direct flights from Nice while Easy jet offers direct flights from Nantes.
You may also consider flying to Zurich Airport (around 150 km / 95 miles to the northeast of the hotel), or to EuroAirport Basel Mulhouse Freiburg (around 130 km / 80 miles drive north of the hotel, across the German border). Both these airports are served by many more airlines, between many more destinations.
HOW TO GET FROM THE AIRPORTS TO THE HOTEL
From Bern Airport:
- By bus / train: The airport is connected to the nearby Belp Railway Station by the AiportBus Bern (lines 335 & 160). From there, it is possible to can connect to frequent S-Bahn trains S3, S4, S31 and S44 to Bern’s Main Station. The journey time to Bern city center is around 30 minutes and should cost around 6.40 CHF.
Once at Bern Station, take an RE train to Neuchâtel, the fare costs around 20 CHF and the journey takes around 30-50 minutes (depending on the train taken). Arriving in Neuchâtel it is then just a short taxi ride to the hotel.
- By car: Leaving the airport, turn right towards Belp. Once there follow the direction of Rubigen and the motorway. Then follow the direction of Bern onto the motorway. As you approach Bern, begin following the direction of Lausanne on the E25 / 1. After around 15 minutes take exit 29 towards Neuchâtel. Keep following the signs to Neuchâtel. As you enter Neuchâtel, continue straight along the road with the lake on your left and after a few minutes begin looking out for the hotel signposted to the left.
From Geneva Airport:
- By train / bus: It is possible to catch the ICN train at the airport, directly to Neuchâtel. The fare costs around 23.50 CHF and the journey takes around 1 hour & 13 minutes. Arriving in Neuchâtel it is then just a short taxi ride to the hotel.
- By car: Leaving the airport, follow the signs for Lausanne onto the E25 / 1 motorway. Continue on this road for around 30 minutes then follow the direction of Neuchâtel. Once you arrive in Neuchâtel, keep following the road with the lake on your right, for a few minutes until you see the hotel signposted to the right.
From Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and on Saturdays, Sundays and French bank holidays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
