View all offersEven before I set a toe over the threshold of the Hôtel Observatoire Luxembourg, the experience already feels irresistibly Parisian; on the walk here I passed innumerable café terraces spilling out onto the narrow streets, chic independent boutiques and, of course, the leafy lure of the Luxembourg gardens. But now, standing in front of the smart charcoal façade and simple gold lettering, I remembered the hefty weight of my suitcase and how stiff my legs were from the journey; it was time to meet my new home from home.
All hotels aim to be welcoming – naturally - but the Hôtel Observatoire Luxembourg felt more homely than most. The vintage-inspired black and gold exteriors are paired with bursts of raspberry red and large mirrors, creating an atmosphere that felt light and airy yet decadently intimate; a combination I’ve found that only Paris knows how to really nail. The new carpets and paintings show the care taken in re-decorating the hotel adding to the wonderful experience of staying at Hôtel Observatoire Luxembourg. Upstairs, having finally ditched the suitcase, I flopped on the enormous bed and drank in the view of the immaculate private garden from my window – this, I thought, I could get used to.
The real beauty of the Hôtel Observatoire Luxembourg (besides its actual stunning design, of course) is the location. The Latin Quarter, named for the students in the nearby Sorbonne who used to fill the cobbled streets with Latin chatter, is teeming with not only with breathtaking historical sights but charming, understated cafés that embody the very essence of Parisian life. The Luxembourg Gardens are a visually spectacular vestige of France’s opulent history; and they’re mere moments from my front doorstep. Sure, the midnight Vespa ride along the Seine may have been a little unrealistic, but in truth my stay the Hôtel Observatoire Luxembourg lived up to even my wildest Parisian clichés.
