It’s just shy of 5 o’clock here in the sleepy village of Flaine, and already the sun is treating us to a spectacular kaleidoscopic sunset – snow topped mountains are illuminated in sweet pastel shades, and I honestly couldn’t be more content. Even though this isn’t my first rodeo in the Alps, I can’t help marvelling at the immense beauty of it all as if it was my first time here. BY PLANE

  • Geneva International Airport (85 km) is the closest well-served international airport, located 1 hour 20 minutes drive north west of the hotel, it receives flights from many capitals and major cities across Europe. Otherwise, Lyon-Saint Exupéry Airport is located 2 hours 55 minutes west of the hotel, which is similarly well served but may be cheaper.

HOW TO GET FROM THE AIRPORT TO THE HOTEL

  • - By airport transfer: transfer services are available to the Domaine by coach or minivan, journey times vary in accordance with airport and transport method.

    - By car: car rental companies are readily available at the airport, although it is often cheaper to book online and in advance. Leave the airport and continue onto the A1/ E25/ E62. Cross the border and merge onto the A41 and then take the A40/ E25 toward Turin/ Chamonix-Mont Blanc. Continue for 30 km and take exit 19 toward Flaine/ Cluses-Centre. At the roundabout take the 2nd exit onto Route de Flaine/ D6 and follow signs to Flaine. The hotel is situated on the Route de Flaine and as such it will be on your left hand side.

BY TRAIN

  • Lyon has its own high-speed TGV station; it is therefore possible to arrive by high-speed train, with companies such as TGV, Thalys and Eurostar, from various countries across Europe like the UK, Netherlands or Germany (as well as other cities in France).

    The Lyon Gare de Saint-Exupéry TGV station is directly attached to the airport.
