Night Hotel Theater District ★★★★
Expect the unexpected in this devastatingly cool NYC residence.
By Sophie Lawrence, VeryChic correspondent
When it comes to finding the perfect city break hotel in New York, the choice has never been so black and white. While the Night Hotel Theater District **** holds the promise of the unexpected, there are a few things you can depend on: an unrivalled location a few steps from Times Square, outstanding design throughout and award-winning customer service. For NYC novices, theatre fans, foodies, and everyone in between the choice is resoundingly clear. Get ready to enjoy New York at its most cool and vibrant – in glorious monochrome!
Chic idea: to make the most of your time in New York, book your tickets in advance for a wide range of activities, here.
New York has been my all-time favourite city since the tender age of 11. Where London is the champion of the understated, “woke up like this” chic, New York is a different entity entirely. It manages to be polished and glamourous yet rough enough round the edges, not to mention unfailingly confident – an almost brash “take me or leave me” attitude that I find irresistible. The Night Hotel Theater District **** is the ultimate product of these charms, a boutique hotel that promises to be both the life of the party and your haven to return to at the end of the night.
The interior feels a million miles from the hyperchromatic sight of Times Square outside; instead it felt like stepping into a particularly beautiful film noir. The sultry monochromatic cool made my flight outfit of black leggings and neon pink Nikes feel rather inadequate, yet the staff welcomed me as warmly as if I were a manicured New York socialite in Jimmy Choos. In fact, despite the ultra-cool downtown vibe I was getting from the mood lighting and modern art work, there was a calm and an intimacy that was wholly unexpected – it was a winning combination that had me hooked in seconds.
Not even the supreme comfort of my bedroom could convince me to spend valuable exploring time in bed. As I sprang out of the front door each morning I was greeted by the spine-tingling roar of Times Square, a challenge to conquer as much of the city as I could. Where would I go today? It didn’t matter – I had the Big Apple in the palm of my hand. Jam-packed days would soon roll into electrifying nights, punctuated solely by a cocktail at the hotel’s Red Moon Lounge to take it all in - if only for a second. The Night Hotel Theater District **** helped my NYC dreams come true from dawn ‘til dusk and every hour in between. After all – the most interesting things happen at Night!
