Point Hotel Taksim ★★★★★

East and West collide in Istanbul for a world class stay.

By Rebecca Moore, VeryChic correspondent
Istanbul is a city of meeting points. It is where Eastern and Western culture intersect, where Asia and Europe meet for the first time; here centuries of history and culture mingle freely with the modern world.  At the seam to welcome you warmly to both is Point Hotel Taksim *****. Overlooking the Bosphorus, the narrow strait that separates Asian Turkey from European Turkey, Point Hotel Taksim’s ***** modern design and old-world charm puts visitors in the perfect spot to explore the many contradictions of magical, mystifying Istanbul.

    • The shopping opportunities in Istanbul are incredible- one of the benefits of being the end of the historical Silk Road. İstiklal Avenue has many of the best, as well as a selection of theatres, pubs and bars, restaurants, and live music venues as well.
    • Taksim Square comes alive after dark, with a plethora of great street vendors selling traditional Turkish food, and market stalls selling unusual wares, as well as the Atatürk Cultural Center. Gumussuyu Mh., 34050.
    • Cross the Bosphorus Bridge, which goes over the Bosphorus to connect the Asian and European continent.
    • There’s a lot to discover in Istanbul, so it’s best to get advice from people who know the area. There are plenty of tour guides around, but The Circle Istanbul tours offer something a little different to the typical.

    BY PLANE

    • Istanbul currently has two airports: Ataturk Airport on the European side and the newer Sabiha Gokcen Airport, on the Asian side. We recommend choosing a flight to Ataturk Airport, which is a little closer to the hotel.

Atakurk Airport (21 km) is the closest well served international airport, located 20 to 50 minutes drive south-west of the hotel. It receives flights from many capitals and major cities across Europe.
