On first inspection, a hotel naming itself after a palace is somewhat of a bold claim. Yet laying eyes upon the Kenzi Menara Palace *****, you will soon see how fitting a name it is. Situated like a crown jewel in the middle of a five hectare park, surrounded by impeccable botanical gardens, you feel magically whisked away from the frantic pace of the city, and instead in a world where peace and luxury reign supreme.
In the tradition of Moroccan hospitality, the service here is infallible. Staff here make you feel like royalty as they show you to your room, passing through corridors that could easily be mistaken for any of those found in a Riad. Rich crimson shades fill the spacious rooms, accentuated by dark mahogany furniture that give a touch of intimacy and sensuality. Yet the best of all was waking up to a gleaming sunrise that lit up the Atlas Mountains and the Olympic sized pool just beyond my window – views that would even make a King green with envy!
Waking up in such decadence might tempt you to laze the day away in bed; especially when your room has all the high tech amenities you could possibly desire. Yet venture downstairs for breakfast and I can promise you won’t be disappointed by the magnificent spread that awaits you; everything from savoury to sweet (and a few Moroccan treats thrown in for good measure) is on offer. After all, rummaging through souqs and taking on the electric streets of Marrakech can’t be done on an empty stomach. Though your feet may ache by the end, the ‘One Thousand and One Nights’ scale splendour of the Kenzi Menara Palace ***** will have you head over heels for magical Marrakech in no time!
