Besides maybe the Eiffel Tower, I can’t think of a more postcard-perfect place in Paris than the Arc de Triomphe. From here a web of tree lined boulevards stretch deep into Paris and bring the best of the City of Light to your fingertips – not that you, sleeping soundly in the Hotel Tilsitt Etoile, would ever realise! Tucked away in a side street just minutes from the centre, this charming hotel strikes a winning combination between Paris’ inimitable energy and a peaceful haven to unwind at when the day is done.
The Hotel Tilsitt Etoile obviously knows that first impressions are everything; a warm welcome doesn’t quite do it justice. As you step in, travel weary and laden with suitcases, friendly faces take care of your cases and offer you a drink from the all-day bar while they get you settled. Bright colours that are reminiscent of the 1950’s fill the room with warmth and character – all in the best Parisian taste, naturally.
For somewhere in the middle of Paris, waking up to golden silence was a real joy. Breakfasts in the winter garden were long and languid, where the homemade buffet let you swap between savoury and sweet as you desired – best enjoyed with French coffee strong enough to bring you to your senses! After this, all that’s left is a few steps from your front door to go explore the delights of Paris; or perhaps you could just saunter back to bed. Rooms as comfortable as these are made for watching films while bundled up in fluffy dressing gowns, and ordering in slightly too much room service. After all, Paris is all about practicing the fine art of joie-de-vivre – how you do it is up to you!
