The Rathbone Hotel ★★★★

Stay at the heart of London life in the delightful Rathbone Hotel.

By Rebecca Moore, VeryChic correspondent
The King’s Road, Abbey Road, Baker Street, Portobello Road, Shaftesbury Avenue… the streets of London are very much paved with history. Amongst them, although with less instant name recognition, is Charlotte Street. Even amongst the wildly fashionable streets of Fitzrovia, it’s been a flourishing hub of culture and art for centuries, playing home to some of London’s most distinguished artists –  Christina and Dante Rossetti, John Moreland, John Constable, to name but a few. Today, its creative, chic nature lives on, in the work of art that is the Rathbone Hotel ****.

Chic idea: to make the most of your time in London, book your tickets in advance here for a wide range of activities.

Tickets are around £26 single (£21 in advance) or £39 return (£34 in advance). Regular train services also run, taking twice the time, for around £10.  The cheapest method is the Underground (tube) Piccadilly Line, taking closer to an hour.

From London Gatwick to central London:
    - By train: The Gatwick Express to London Victoria runs regularly with a journey time of 30 minutes. Tickets are around £20 single (£10 for children) or £35 return (£18 for children); it is a little cheaper if booked in advance. For around £15 single, Southern Trains operate four times an hour to London Victoria, taking around 35 minutes.

    - By bus: The National Express operates direct coach services to London Victoria once an hour with a journey time of around 90 minutes. Tickets are around £8 single, £15 return.

BY UNDEGROUND (TUBE)

  • The nearest underground station (known locally as the Tube) is Goodge Street, which is just 4 minutes' walk from the hotel, which is served by the Northern Line.

Otherwise Tottenham Court Road station is 6 minutes' walk from the hotel and is served by the Northern Line and Central Line, but it is much busier, as such we would recommend going to Goodge Street, just one stop further on the Northern Line.
