By Catherine McKie, VeryChic correspondent
Lope de Vega, a Spanish playwright, poet and novelist who was a key literary figure in the Golden Age, once said that he would be happy ‘with a few flowers in [his] garden, half a dozen pictures and some books’. Living in Madrid however, he was often frequenting many of the local restaurants, cafes and bars, as well as admiring all its inspirational sights and artistic ambience. With a stay at Apartamentos Blume Cruz, in the Literary Quarter, you too can discover all the charms of this alluring capital.

Chic idea: to make the most of your time in Madrid, book your tickets in advance for a wide range of activities, here.

BY PLANE

  • Madrid-Barajas (12 km/ 8 mi) is the closest well served international airport, located 15 minutes drive north-east of the hotel. It receives flights from many capitals and major cities across Europe.

HOW TO GET FROM THE AIRPORT TO THE HOTEL

  • - By taxi: The hotel is around 12 km from the airport (around 15-20 minutes by car). The journey should cost no more than 30€ (luggage included).

    - By bus: you may take line B200 and get off at Av. America - Fco. Silvela. From there take the metro line L9 (purple) from Avenida de América station (direction of Puerta De Arganda) for a couple of stops to Principe de Vergara and then L2 (red, direction of Ópera) to Sol.

    - By metro: take line 8 (pink) from Madrid Barajas Airport, and change at Colombia for the (purple) line 9 (direction of Puerta De Arganda); it is then a further 5 stops to Principe de Vergara and change onto L2 (red, direction of Ópera) for 4 stops to Sol. A one way ticket costs 5 euros. Arriving in Madrid, you may want to consider the Tourist Travel Pass which includes journeys to/from the airport and can work out cheaper if you plan on using public transport during your stay.
(Returning to the airport: if you have a regular single ticket (costing only 1€), you can buy a 2 euro supplement airport ticket, working out cheaper than the 5€ airport ticket.)

BY METRO
