Rhodes doesn’t really need any help being romantic; its authentically Greek good looks in the form of achingly pretty sugarcube houses and blissfully serene waters capture the hearts of anyone who lays eyes on it. In fact, being such seasoned fans of Greece and all its idyllic island, my boyfriend and I were quite certain it had no more surprises in store – at least that’s what we thought before our stay at the Elite Suites by Rhodes Bay. Overlooking Ixia Bay, the combination of intimacy and unsurpassable luxury is a match made in heaven…
If I could sum up the Elite Suites by Rhodes Bay in a few concise words, I would say it radiated romance. You might say, as I would, that this is actually no different from anywhere else in Rhodes; the serene shores that run alongside beautifully preserved towns make it a fool-proof first step in Romantic Getaways 101, as I’ve found over the years. Yet there’s a quality to the Amathus Elite Suites that puts it a distinction above all else on the island, something which a blithe, sweeping gesture of “romance” doesn’t even begin to capture.
The clue to the charm of Amathus Elite Suites lies (somewhat unsurprisingly) in the name itself; the hotel’s commitment to an unparalleled, elite experience. From the moment my boyfriend and I arrived here we were greeted as distinguished guests, with an attitude that struck the perfect balance between warm and friendly yet discreet. French sparkling wine – already on ice – awaited us in our elegantly decorated Elite Suite along with a delightful fruit basket, although the breathtaking views of Ixia Bay that lay beyond our very own private pool quickly stole the limelight!
Even though children were allowed here, every detail at the hotel is meticulously crafted to beckon blissful romance. From the idyllic, sun soaked peace of the gardens to the quiet, intimate atmosphere of the Varkarola Taverna and its accompanying pool bar, doting couples could be seen lingering over drinks and the enchanting views offered by the hotel in the most important luxury of them all: privacy. My exquisite experience here at the Elite Suites by Rhodes Bay exceeded every one of my expectations… I’m not sure my boyfriend will ever be able to top this!

The Elite Suites by Rhodes Bay ***** stands on the picturesque coastal resort of Ixia Bay, just a short walk from the nearest beach and 4 km from Rhodes Town.
BY PLANE
Rhodes International Airport, "Diagoras" (RHO) sits around 14 km / 7 mi southwest of Rodos, the island's capital, and around 9.6 km / 6 mi (16 minutes') drive from the hotel. The airport receives many flights from large cities and capitals across Europe, including the UK. Many flights are seasonal, however, and it may be necessary to fly indirect via Athens.
From the airport to the hotel:
• Bus: a bus service is available to the city of Rhodes, (no. 23-35), the bus stop is located between the new and the old terminal.
• Taxi: a 24/7 metered taxi service is available outside the airport terminal, the journey to the city of Rhodes is about 20-30 minutes.
• Car: several car services are available at the airport, but be sure to book your car in advance, particularly in summer! This is the best way to reach the hotel if you are also looking to explore Rhodes independently during your stay.
