Floating idyllically off the north coast of Africa, is the Portuguese paradise island of Madeira. Although technically part of Portugal, the Madeiran archipelago sits surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean with dramatic cliff edges that border each island. Its rugged landscape rises and falls with striking volcanic peaks covered in greenery, which makes for some great countryside walks. The luxurious Saccharum ***** finds itself set along the idyllic west coast of the island, in Calheta, a place famous for being one of the sunniest locations in Madeira.

BY PLANE

  • Cristiano Ronaldo Madeira International Airport (FNC), also known as Madeira Airport or Funchal Airport, is located 13.2 km / 8.2 mi east-northeast of the regional capital Funchal. It is located around 48 kilometres from the hotel (around 45 minutes drive).

    This airport is fairly well-served internationally and receives direct flights from a large number of capitals and major cities across Europe.
