The gentle hills of Monferrato have kept the Borgo Ramezzana Country House **** a romantic, remote hideaway since the neo-Gothic mansion was first built in the 19th Century, and we’re certainly not going to be the ones to spill its secrets… we’re keeping it for ourselves!
With only 10 rooms and suites available at one time, we can’t risk letting everyone in on this one. The rooms are in demand enough as it is, with an authentic, country-style décor enhanced by the wooden beams and exposed stone fireplaces. Hidden away, out of the path of the indomitable march of modernity, the original architectural features of the mansion have remained unchanged, from the terracotta floors to the frescoed ceilings. The pool, shaded from the hot Italian sun by the stretching boughs of an ancient cedar tree, is hidden amongst the colourful country gardens.
The restaurant is the only area touched by the outside world, where the authentic, Italian cuisine has been enhanced with flavours coming from the Mediterranean and Asia. The buffet breakfast is only the start; throughout the day, the scent of fresh, home-made pastries fills the house, and by evening, even the fragrant gardens cannot compete with the delicious smells coming from the restaurant kitchens.
The Borgo Ramezzana Country House **** is a beautiful, delightful, intimate retreat; snap up one of those elusive rooms and see for yourself!
