View all offersPrimordial setting…
Looking out across the landscape that surrounds the Hotel Santa Margarida ****, you’ll feel as though you’ve stepped back into a primeval realm when nature ruled all. The gorgeous Oleiros runs timelessly along the perimeter of the hotel’s spacious gardens, begging you to follow its banks into the great outdoors.
Modern design…
This sense of prehistory is juxtaposed with trendy décor, which takes inspiration from nature and gives it a stylish twist. Scarlet accents pierce a bright, airy interior, where light reflects on sleek, streamlined furniture. Silhouetted branches make artistic patterns on the walls, while orb-like light fittings act as the sun, incorporating nature into this sphere of modernity.
Traditional fare…
The Callum Restaurant continues the fusion of traditional and modern by serving delicious twists on regional delicacies. You can even venture into the hotel’s organic garden to pick home-grown produce for your evening meal. The very design of the restaurant reminds one of its culinary heritage, featuring a wall constructed from ramshackle shale slates, just like the ancient dwellings of the ‘Aldeias de Xisto’.
Contemporary comforts…
Enjoy this sense of Portugal’s history whilst simultaneously indulging in the luxury of its present. You might fancy a dip in the modern outdoor pool, or perhaps simply to gaze up at the dazzling sky from the open-air Jacuzzi. Or, if you’re like me, you may just prefer just to wrap up in a fluffy bathrobe, relax on a lounger, and listen to the sounds of nature.
Whatever your tastes, you can rest easy in the knowledge that here you’ll never have to choose between comfort and authenticity at the Hotel Santa Margarida ****.

The hotel can be reached by Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport (OPO), known more simply as Porto Airport, which is located about 11 km (6.8 mi) northwest of the centre of Porto. and 2 hours 15 minutes roughly from the hotel. The airport receives flights from many capitals and major cities across Europe.
From Porto Airport:
We recommend hiring a car and travelling to the hotel that way, as the hotel's remote location would alternatively require a 5 hour journey on public transport or a very expensive taxi..!

Take Exit 6 to join the A3 towards Lisbon, and then stay left to join the A20/IP1 towards Porto/Antas/Gaia/Freixo/A1/Lisboa. Continue on the A1/IP1 for 110km. Take Exit 11 towards N342/Lousã/Soure/Condeixa and stay on the A13-1 for 13 km. Take the A13 towards Tomar and take the exit for the IC8.
