Grey buildings, polluted air, and earthshattering alarms - I needed a break from city life, and fast! So, I checked into the island paradise that is Hotel Brown Beach House**** for two blissful weeks. An oasis of azure tranquillity - I found just the Zen I was looking for.
Overlooking the gentle hills of Croatia’s mainland, the upscale, boutique hotel is found in what can only be described as a prime location. Just a minute from the pristine beach, it is found in Trogir, a historic UNESCO World Heritage town. It has been described as a remarkable example of urban continuity, where beautiful Romanesque buildings fuse with those Renaissance and Baroque - no wonder it is one of the best-preserved medieval towns in Europe.
My day would commence in a state of calm, waking from a sleep in a bed as comfortable as a cloud. Then, gazing in awe, I’d soak up the breathtaking view out of our lavish bedroom’s window, a stunning canvas of azure dotted with the mainland’s tiled-roofed villas and rolling hills. Encompassing stylish décor with a chic black and white colour scheme, and peppered with exotic plants, our bedroom was the epitome of stylish serenity.
The impressive property was transformed from a 20th century tobacco shipment station by Amsterdam-based designer Saar Zafrir. Unique in its own right, the four-star hotel juxtaposes the building’s original details such as elegant curved beams with contemporary furnishings and upscale design, to create a relaxed ambience.
Every day we spent sojourning at the refined, boutique hotel was different and unforgettable. From relaxing on a four-poster sun lounger looking out over the infinity pool, and swimming in the azure Adriatic Sea, to dining in the chic, high-end Cartina Restaurant and sipping delicious concoctions in the à la mode Cocktail Bar, we had an incredible holiday. And not a single grey building or pesky alarm in sight!
