John Muir, a world-renowned naturalist, environmental philosopher and advocate of preserving the wilderness, would certainly have revelled in the opportunity to explore Portugal’s only national park. Located in the Norte region, Peneda Gerês National Park is such a valuable area of natural beauty that it is a designated part of UNESCO’s Biosphere World Preserve. Its ever-changing landscape ranges from rugged mountains to dense forests, and Luna Arcos Hotel Nature & Wellness **** is located here, along the banks of the Vez river and a stone’s throw away from the beach.

The Luna Arcos Hotel Nature & Wellness **** prides itself on its exceptional location at the heart of Arcos de Valvedez, part of UNESCO's Biosphere World Reserve in Peneda Geres National Park. It is only a 2 minute walk from the beach, and around 49km from Vigo.

BY PLANE

  • Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport (OPO), known more simply as Porto Airport, is located about 11 km (6.8 mi) northwest of the centre of Porto.

    The airport receives flights from many capitals and major cities across Europe.

HOW TO GET FROM THE AIRPORT TO THE HOTEL

  • - By bus: the bus service Transportes Barquense offers a shuttle lasting 90km to bring you to Arcos de Valdevez. The ticket costs between 15€ and 20€.

    - By taxi: it is possible to reach the hotel by taxi, and Porto Airport usually had licensed taxis available. The price is reasonable as well, considering it is an hour long trip, costing around 70€.

    - By car: as you leave the airport, head south and slight right to join the A41. Stay on this road for 9km before taking Exit 6 and joining the A3 towards Braga. Continue on this road for 70km, then take exit 12 towards A27/Viana C.Io/IC28. At the next roundabout take the 2nd exit (IC28) and stay right to continue on the IC28 for another 13km. Use the right hand lane to take the N101 to Monçao/A.cos de Valdevez. Take exits for the N101 for the next 3 roundabouts, followed by exits for N202 for the following 3 roundabouts, follow the EM1322 for just short of a kilometre and you will find the hotel on the left.
