Found in central Italy, less than 90-minutes from Rome, Orvieto is everything an Italian hillside town should be. The Altarocca Wine Resort is located atop a rock, surrounded by lush greenery, in quaint Orvieto in the Terni area of Umbria. It is around 130km from Rome, and 90km from Perugia.

BY PLANE

  • The nearest airports (and the best served) are in Rome. The main airport serving Rome is Rome Fiumicino-Leonardo da Vinci Airport (FCO), located around 156 km / 96.9 mi (around 1 hour 45 minutes' drive) from the hotel. The airport is well connected internationally, and receives a large number of flights from across Europe.

    Some low-cost airlines, notably Ryanair, also fly into Rome's second airport, Rome Ciampino Airport (CIA), located around 138 km / 85.7 mi (around 1 hour 30 minute's drive) from the hotel.

HOW TO GET FROM THE AIRPORT TO THE HOTEL

  • - By car: due to the hotel's distance, we recommend driving to the hotel, which also gives you the opportunity to explore the nearby beauty. As you leave Rome head for the SS4/Via Salaria to take the E35/A1/Firenza. Stay on the A1dir/E35 for 22km before using the left two lanes to merge onto the A1/E35/E45 towards Firenze. Stay on the A1/E35 for 80km until you reach the Orvieto exit. Keep following signs for Orvieto then, at the roundabout, take the 2nd exit to stay on Via Angelo Costanzi. Continue straight at the next roundabout to stay on this road. After a kilometre, stay right to stay on Strada Provinciale 56 and stay on that road for 3km, and then take the 1st exit at the roundabout. Slight left onto SP99 and take a left onto Via Piave. Continue straight on Località Rocca Ripesena for 2km then turn right to follow this road - continue straight and turn right at the turn 200m away, and the hotel should be on your right.
