For a refined regal stay in the heart of a historic city it really doesn’t get any better than Sandton Hotel Reylof **** - an extravagant city hotel, listed as a historic monument, it boasts original features that include a stunning sweeping spiral staircase and several empire mantle pieces. This typically Belgian town house dates back to 1724 and is imbued with glamour and tradition, while also flaunting a welcome contemporary twist thanks to its recent renovation. Discover for yourself the ideal blend of authentic and original design, alongside comfort and unadulterated luxury!
Originally owned by Baron Olivier de Reylof, a poet and the son of a wealthy Ghent merchant, the inspiring romance of Sandton Hotel Reylof **** lives on. Following the Louis XIV style, the interior is a marvel of the illustrious empire of the time and was renovated throughout the 20th century to create the polished effect it has today.
The comfortable Charm rooms are elegantly designed with wooden floors, mirroring the overall sophisticated style of the hotel. In addition, the classic marble in the bathroom is complimented with modern features, like an eco-friendly rainwater shower. Despite its age, this is one of Ghent’s greenest hotels, making it a good choice for environmentally conscious visitors!
The courtyard garden, with a terrace and patios, provides a peaceful retreat, whilst the Blue Bird Bar and Lof Bar offer trendy, refined escapes. Design features in Restaurant Lof’s bar, such as the ‘fossil’ bar awash with 11,000 LED lights, make for a striking centrepiece, and from the restaurant itself, guests can sample stylish food to match, with lunches, dinners and afternoon teas available.
Situated a stone’s throw away from the city’s historic centre, the hotel is just a 10-minute walk from popular attractions like the House of Alijn and St Bavo’s Cathedral. The convenient location makes Sandton Hotel Reylof **** the perfect base from which to explore the Medieval delights of this charming port city.
