Saint Ambrose, in the 1st century, gave us one of the world’s best-known sayings: ‘when in Rome, do as the Romans do’. Housed in an ancient building from the 15th century, the Relais 88 enjoys an enviable posiiton at the heart of Rome, right next to the Piazza Navona, the Pantheon and the Saint-Ange Castle.

BY PLANE

  • The main airport serving Rome is Rome Fiumicino-Leonardo da Vinci Airport (FCO), located around 35.0 km / 21.7 mi southwest of the city centre. The airport is well connected internationally, and receives a large number of flights from across Europe.

    Some low-cost airlines, notably Ryanair, also fly into Rome's second airport, Rome Ciampino Airport (CIA), located around 12 km / 7.5 mi south-southeast of the city centre.

HOW TO GET FROM THE AIRPORT TO THE HOTEL

  • From Rome Fiumicino:

    - By taxi: the airport has taxis outside the arrivals terminal round the clock, making this a good option no matter when your flight arrives. The half hour journey should cost, on average, around 55€-70€.

    - By bus: the autostradale bus leaves the airport once per hour, and drops you off at the Vatican, which is around a 10 minute walk from your hotel. This costs 5€ per ticket and lasts around 45 minutes.

    From Rome Ciampino:

    - By taxi: the hotel is approximately half an hour away from the airport, which costs around 35€-45€ minutes in a licensed taxi.

    - By bus: Rome Ciampino has a service which leaves every 30 minutes for Termini Station (4€ per ticket), from where you can take Line 70 or the N7 to Zanardelli, only a 1 minute walk away. Overall this costs 6€ and takes around 50 minutes.
