The ancient Greeks’ Seven Wonders of the World continue to linger in our collective consciousness, enhanced only by modern attempts to update them. Of the contemporary contenders, the most architecturally inspired and amazing is surely the world-famous Palm Jumeirah in Dubai. When you visit, you will realise that they need to add another to the seven, making a perfect eight!
Like the Great Pyramid of Giza, the Palm Jumeirah of Dubai can be seen from outer space. Zoom in on Anantara the Palm Dubai Resort, and you may find other similarities with ancient marvels. The landmark architecture makes its elegant mark on the landscape with the stature of a Halicarnassus Monument or the marbled spaces of the Temple of Artemis.
The view over the lagoon from your room could rival that of the Colossus of Rhodes or an observer of the watery scenery poised at the pinnacle of the Lighthouse of Alexandria.
