Nestled within the picturesque Roero hills in the heart of the Langhe, lies the idyllic Albergo dell’Agenzia ****, a characterful haven of bliss sat upon 2 hectares of manicured gardens. Prepare to be lulled by the slow pace of life; the irresistibly tasty cuisine and the antiquated charm amidst the modern interior. As former home to the King of Savoy, you can expect regal splendour and neo-Gothic architectural flair. Now, VeryChic invites you to adopt this royal position by making the charming Albergo dell’Agenzia **** your home.
Whilst city breaks are great, sometimes all you want is to get away from it all and find a blissful spot to truly unwind. For me, Albergo dell’Agenzia **** was exactly what I wanted it to be - and more. A retreat to a peaceful corner of the world; somewhere of immense beauty; a characterful residence creating the perfect balance between the traditional and the luxurious. And speaking of perfect balances - its location must be mentioned. Sitting proudly amongst the verdant Italian hills, it has that ‘middle of nowhere’ appeal to a certain extent, but in reality, it’s only a 10 minute’ drive from Bra town centre… the best of both worlds.
As I was handed a welcome drink by the friendly staff, I instantly felt that homely warmth I was hoping for! So often, the staff can ‘make or break’ a hotel, or certainly distinguish the ‘exceptional’ ones from the ‘good’ ones! Going off first impressions, this was an exceptional hotel, but I’d wait until the end of my stay for the final verdict!
I continued to be impressed as I saw my charming guestroom. The neo-Gothic architecture such as wooden-panelled ceilings and terra cotta flooring was perfectly complemented by elegant furnishings. Waiting for me was not only a sumptuous double bed, but also a complimentary bottle of wine - just another touch which made this hotel stand out.
After spending the day cycling around the hotel’s stunning grounds, admiring the sea of flourishing green and the warm sun caressing my skin, I indulged in a well-deserved soak in the hot tub and Turkish bath. In the evening, I sampled the fine local cuisine that generates regional gastronomic pride at the hotel’s ambient restaurant. Sliding into my cosy bed on the final night, the verdict had been made: this was simply an exceptional hotel.
Retreat to Albergo dell’Agenzia ****, the restored royal estate of King Carlo Alberto of Savoy to truly experience a hotel fit for a king.
